Women Outdoors respects your privacy.  Our privacy policy describes what information Women Outdoors collects on this web site and how we use it; our email policy; links policy; and security measures. 

Information We Collect

Personal information

We only collect the personal information you voluntarily provide to us on the online membership form or the online registration form for the Women Outdoors Gathering.  That  includes among other things information such as your name, mailing address, telephone numbers, and email address.  We do not share or sell any of this information with any other group.  No personally identifiable information about you is collected without your knowledge. 

Non-personal information

When you visit our web site, some non-personally identifying information will be collected.   This includes information such as the computer IP address and tracking information on pages visited on the site. This information does not identify an individual visitor to the site; rather, it helps us determine which sections of our web site receive the most hits. 


Our web site is hosted on the Wild Apricot platform, which requires the use of cookies. A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, sent to your browser from a web site’s computers and stored on your computer’s hard drive.  Cookies are used to record user session information. 

Email Policy

How we use your email address

We will use your email address to fulfill your request to become a member of Women Outdoors or to attend the annual Women Outdoors Gathering, specifically:

  • To contact you about upcoming Women Outdoors activities in your area
  • To send you occasional emails about the latest Women Outdoors news if you opt to receive them
  • To send you a membership renewal reminder
  • To confirm your registration for the Gathering
  • To respond to your inquiries about Women Outdoors and to communicate directly with you about Women Outdoors events and activities

Email Permissions

In your member profile, you may choose to unsubscribe at any time from Women Outdoors emails. There are three classes of emails.

Workflow emails: Membership renewal notices, event registration confirmations, etc.

Event announcements: Advance announcements about upcoming events.

Email blasts: Mass emails from administrators, newsletters and other important notifications.

Note that when clicking on the Unsubscribe link in an event email, you will no longer receive any emails about ANY upcoming national or regional events that are managed in our calendar event module.

We do not rent, sell, exchange or share our email lists or any personal information about our members with any other organization. 

Additional Notes


Your phone number may be used by your regional contact to communicate directly with you via phone or text about region activities or membership renewals, or by the Gathering or Craftsbury team about your registration.

Sharing Your Information

You can edit your privacy settings in your profile. Our admins will have access to all of your personal information, but for each item in your profile, you can limit  them to no-one or members only, or give access to anybody.

Links Policy

Our site has links to several web sites that may be of interest to our members, such as other outdoor clubs and organizations.  When you click on an outside link, your browser will open a new window, and you are no longer on and no longer covered by our privacy policy.

Security Measures

We are committed to the security of your information.  The Internet host of our web site, Wild Apricot, follows industry best practices for security measures.  

As in every secure transaction on the Internet, always look for the change in the URL – there will be an “s” for “secure” at the end of “http,” e.g.  Also look for a change in the status bar of the browser, such as an icon of a locked padlock or a yellow status bar. 

While Wild Apricot follows industry accepted practices to protect information submitted on this web site, no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure.  You can send specific questions about Wild Apricot’s security methods to their Chief Privacy Officer at
