  • Lorton, VA

Registration

  • An easy winter walk in the woods.

Registration is closed
We'll wander through a mature second-growth forest, marshes and a beach along Belmont Bay on this hike through bald eagle territory.  Stringing together several different trails, we'll cover about 6.5 miles.  There isn't any elevation gain, so this will be an easy walk in the woods.  Be sure and bring your binoculars.

More information from the Mason Neck State Park website:  Mason Neck State Park is on a peninsula formed by Pohick Bay on the north, Belmont Bay on the south and the Potomac River on the east. The peninsula is an active heron rookery. The park also attracts several other migrating and non-migrating species of birds, including whistling swans and assorted species of duck. Bald eagles also inhabit the area. The park boasts several hundred acres of hardwood forests consisting of oaks, holly, hickory and other species of trees. In addition, several wetland areas are also found in Mason Neck.

Mason Neck State Park charges $4/per vehicle fee.
