We're celebrating the 18th anniversary of the Mid-Atlantic Region with a return trip to one of our favorite spots: Camp Misty Mount, a cabin camp at Catoctin Mountain Park in Frederick County, MD.

Nestled in a hardwood forest, Camp Misty Mount takes you back in time to your days at summer camp. Your outdoor options include hiking the beautiful trails at Catoctin Mountain Park, enjoying the heated swimming pool at Camp Misty Mount, or heading over to nearby Cunningham Falls State Park where you can rent a kayak, canoe or stand-up paddle board. Of course, just hanging out at camp all weekend and relaxing is always an option.

Built during the Great Depression, historic Camp Misty Mount features rustic American chestnut cabins that can accommodate 3-4 people, but we've found that the ideal number is actually 1-2 people per cabin.

Each cabin has interior and exterior lighting, a ceiling fan, metal cots with vinyl mattresses, a picnic table and fire ring with grill but no running water. Bathrooms and showers are located in a central bathhouse near the cabins.

Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic will rent a lodge at Camp Misty Mount that will be available as community space for our members all weekend. We'll have cornhole, games, jigsaw puzzles and other sundry activities if it rains. Guitars and other musical instruments are encouraged. We'll also have a campfire at the lodge each night.

To keep things as simple as possible, everyone is responsible for bringing her own food for the weekend. There are supermarkets about 10 minutes away if you need to restock your provisions.

Sorry, doggies are not allowed at Camp Misty Mount. Also, no alcohol.

Cost: Rustic cabins - $75/night = $225/weekend; Cabin 16 - $175/night = $525/weekend. Note: These are the 2026 prices. It's possible they could increase for 2027. The final cost for all cabins depends on how many members stay in each cabin.

Cabin 16 is the only cabin with its own bathroom and a kitchenette; all other cabins must use a nearby bathhouse. We'd like to ensure that Cabin 16 is first made available to those members with health or mobility needs. Email Mid-Atlantic@womenoutdoors.org ASAP if staying in Cabin 16 would help make it possible for you to attend our 18th Anniversary Celebration. While Cabin 16 could sleep 6, because of the room/bed configuration, we recommend that no more than 5 members stay there.

Note: Everyone must stay in a cabin. Tenting and RVing are not allowed, and only registered guests will receive a parking pass for entry/parking at Camp Misty Mount. All members must register online with Women Outdoors even if you are sharing a cabin with another member.

This activity is open only to members of Women Outdoors. You can join right now by clicking on this Join Us link.
