Kayaking on the Eastern Shore

  • 15 Sep 2012
  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center, Grasonville, MD

Registration

  • We'll explore the wetlands in search of waterfowl and raptors. This beautiful venue is well worth the drive.
The Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center, located on Maryland's Eastern Shore near Kent Narrows and the Bay Bridge, offers lovely scenery and abundant wildlife.  We'll kayak around the water trails of Marshy Creek, the Narrows and Prospect Bay looking for herons and osprey, and if we're lucky, bald eagles.

After our gentle paddle, we'll enjoy a picnic lunch back on shore.  CBEC also offers four miles of walking trails if anyone wants to do some exploring after lunch.

BYOB (bring your own boat) or you can rent a kayak or canoe from the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center  for $15/day.  CBEC charges an admission fee of $5/adults, $4/seniors (55+).  Annual membership at CBEC is $35 for individuals, $15 for students/teachers and includes free admission and free use of their kayaks and canoes for the year.

This event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic.  Non-members are invited to join us on two events before we ask you to join Women Outdoors.  You can join now by clicking on this Join Us link.

Please register by Thursday, September 13 when registration closes, and include a telephone number in case of last minute changes.  Please also note if you will be renting a kayak or canoe or if you will bring your own boat.
