Join us for a full day of adventure to see two unique and unusual places near the Buffalo area. Come to both or just one.

First stop is Chestnut Ridge Park and a short hike to the Eternal Flame Waterfall.  A unique landmark, for sure with an actual flame behind some waterfalls.  Then a picnic lunch at Chestnut Ridge if the weather cooperates.... The trail is what I would call scruffy meaning it has short but steep portions and it follows a stream so feet may get wet.  Shoes with good traction are a must especially if there has been rain.   I suggest an extra pair of shoes/socks in case they do get wet in the morning.

Then a drive to the Lockport caves for a 1 pm walking tour of the Erie Canal locks in Lockport and then a boat ride into the Lockport caves!  Who knew!!  $16.25 per person. I recommend that we pay online for the tour like on Thursday of that week just to make sure the weather is Ok.    A bit of history of the Erie Canal and very cool caves I have been wanting to see and learn about. I have heard this tour is really neat. It’s 75 mins, then we head back to Syracuse.   About 2.5 hours back.

For those coming from Syracuse, we'll be leaving Syracuse about 8 am and returning around 5 pm. I will be driving from Syracuse and depending on the interest we can get as many cars as needed to car pool.

For others, we'll meet around 10:30 in the Eternal Flame parking lot. Please send Bev an email (email address in registration confirmation email) where you will meet up with the group of if you’d like to carpool from Syracuse or another location.

NOTE: If it’s expecting to be pouring rain all day, I may postpone. If you have any questions do let me know! See you in the outdoors! BEV

This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can join now and we'll subsidize part of the tour fee! Click on Join Us.
