Length of Hike: From Solar St Parking Lot at Destiny Mall to Armory Square Downtown and return (approx distance 4 miles)

Note: Those wishing a shorter hike may opt to organize a shuttle vehicle parked downtown or hail Uber, Lyft or a cab to return to starting point at Destiny USA Mall parking lot.

MEET at 11 AM- Solar Parking Lot of Destiny USA Mall - the 1st lot with Pedestrian Bridge/Walkover at intersection of Hiawatha Blvd and Solar St. Look in row that fronts Hiawatha Blvd further away from entrance to the Pedestrian Bridge towards the Creek. {using the syrgov map linked above- meet at point marked 0.4 mi}

Info: The Creekwalk extends from the south-eastern side of Onondaga Lake, through the Inner Harbor to Armory Square in Syracuse, and is around 2.6 miles long and fairly wide in most places, with surfaces sometimes consisting of blacktop, brick, wood, and concrete. There are benches at various places. Some of the trail follows streets.

Our “hike” will take us from the parking lot at the Mall and head southeast past the Inner Harbor area to Armory Square Downtown and return for a round trip distance of 4 miles. There are various shops, cafes,restaurants in the Armory Square area to choose from for lunch and/or chocolate break.

What to Bring: Sturdy walking shoes,(hiking poles optional), water, snack, money for lunch and clothes appropriate for weather conditions (forecast: partly sunny and chilly- mid 40's).

As an option: there is also a .5 mile section following the creek from the mall parking lot heading northwest to it’s outlet of Onondaga Lake. This area has in the past been an active site to view wintering bald eagles as well as other birds of interest.

RSVP and Cancellations – IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

Please respect the trip leader and update your RSVP if you sign-up but then are unable to attend. Please also RSVP early, especially if there are only a few signed up. Events may be cancelled due to lack of attendance, as well as changes in weather or other circumstances. So be sure to RSVP and share your cell phone number when asked, as events may have changed and you will not receive notification. If you must cancel at the last minute, call or text the event host/trip leader, as not all leaders have access to the Meetup app on their phones (let her know who it is who is calling/texting). Contact information is included in your registration confirmation. Be sure to copy down the address, directions, and trip leader contact information to bring with you as there might not be good cell service at the event location.

This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can join now by clicking on Join Us.
