Spring thaw has this waterfall flowing nicely. It's an easy walk, with less than 200 feet of uphill, on this 1.5 mile round trip hike. On a loop through hemlocks we'll get views of Hemlock Lake since leaves aren't on the trees yet.
RSVP and Cancellations
Please respect the trip leader and update your RSVP if you sign-up but then are unable to attend. If you attend without RSVP-ing it is possible that the hike may have changed without notification.
The trail will be wet, probably mud in places. The walking is easy, so you could wear your favorite muck boots and keep dry feet if that pleases you.
What to Bring
Dress for the weather. The trail is all in the trees so wind probably won't be bad, but the sun won't help much (if it is out). Plan on layers and wind breaker, scarf for your face, and something to cover your ears. Bring water and a snack if desired. Hiking poles might help with slipping.
Location and Directions
Approximate address is 9650 Johnson Hill Road, Springwater, NY. The map on meetup shows the pin on the wrong side of the road, but no way to fix that. Don't worry, once you get to the road you will find us. Please use your favorite mapping program to find the best route from your location. See the links in the Additional Information section for
The parking area is about 1/2 mile up from Old Bald Hill Rd S on the right, and 1/4 mile down from Canadice Lake Rd on the left.
**I would not recommend parking in the parking lot at this time of year, unless you have a monster truck with aggressive tires to get out of the mud. Park along the road, one side only.
There are no facilities onsite, and no nearby businesses. There is a gas station and convenience store in Hemlock, about 10 miles north on Rt 15A. If you use TP in the outdoor facilities make sure to bring a zip lock baggie so you can carry it out (TP is so gross to find in the woods).
