  • Seneca Falls, NY

Registration is closed

Esker Brook Nature Trail provides a nice loop through woods, along a stream, around a pond, and up the glacially formed ridge and back through the woods (1.5 miles for one loop, but there are 4 miles of trails to extend the walk). The terrain is easy to moderate with some ups and downs. The trail surface is mostly natural. We can expect snow, ice, or mud at this season. I’ll check it out the days prior to the event to see if we need snowshoes. Alternatively, we may cancel if it is too icy.

Bring your own snowshoes or wear appropriate boots, water, snack, no restrooms (the closest restroom is at the Montezuma Winery, on the corner of 5&20 and Rte. 89). Optional: binoculars for birding, hiking poles.

*NOTE: Dogs are no longer allowed on the Esker Brook Trails.

Directions: Take thruway exit 41. Turn right (south) onto Route 414 and follow for approximately 200 yards (183 meters) to the traffic light. Turn left (east) at the light onto Route 318 and follow for approximately 5 miles (8 km) to the end of Route 318 where it meets Routes 5 & 20. Turn left (east) onto Routes 5 & 20 and then north on Rte. 89, turn left on Lay Road and right on E. Tyre.  Sign for parking and trail access is on the right.

Local Directions: Drive east of Seneca Falls or west from Auburn on Rtes 5 & 20; turn north on Rte. 89, turn left on Lay Road and right on E. Tyre.  Sign for parking and trail access is on the right.

RSVP and Cancellations – IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

Please respect the trip leader and update your RSVP if you sign-up but then are unable to attend. Please also RSVP early, especially if there are only a few signed up. Events may be cancelled due to lack of attendance, as well as changes in weather or other circumstances. So be sure to RSVP and share your cell phone number when asked, as events may have changed and you will not receive notification. If you must cancel at the last minute, call or text the event host/trip leader, as not all leaders have access to the Meetup app on their phones (let her know who it is who is calling/texting). Contact information is included in your registration confirmation. Be sure to copy down the address, directions, and trip leader contact information to bring with you as there might not be good cell service at the event location.

This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can join now by clicking on Join Us.
