Taughannock Falls State Park has the highest waterfall east of the Rockies, 215 feet past rocky cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet above the gorge. There is an easy, flat (and cool on a hot day) 3/4-mile stroll to the base of the falls, and an overlook with another trail at the top of the falls.

The park is located on Route 89, 8 miles north of Ithaca. 607-387-6739

We'll start with our planning meeting and dish-to-pass picnic at 11 AM, then enjoy a walk afterwards. We will meet at the North Point parking lot which is off of Rte 89N - (above/north of the Park Office/Marina lots and north of the Taughannock Creek.

GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude): 42°32'52.5"N 76°36'00.0"W  or 42.547920, -76.600006

Admission Fee: $8 per vehicle (No fee for those already registered to camp that day.)

Bring: Dish to pass, water bottles, your calendars, ideas, and enthusiasm. Don’t forget your calendar.   Optional: camera, hiking sticks. Dress appropriately for the weather.

For even more fun, some members are camping overnight in the park, Friday or Saturday or both. Camping reservations are on your own.

Make your reservations via www.reserveamerica.com
(search for "Tau" and this park will pop up first in the list, no need to spell the whole name!)

Camping options: as of June 16, there were a total of 12 (out of 84) sites still available for both Friday July 7 and Saturday July 8, 2017.  Any available tent sites numbered 64 - 72 would allow for our group to camp near to or adjacent to each other.

Basic Camping Rules

1 Sites allow for no more than 6 people per site and 2 vehicles. A valid camping permit must be visible on all vehicles.

2 Check-in is at 3pm and check-out is by 11am. Occupants must register when they arrive

3 Each site allows for either two (2) tents OR one (1) unit of hard wheeled camping equipment + one (1) tent.
