Early morning is the best time for bird watching. We’ll go slowly and watch for wildlife and plant life. Trails are flat and wood-chipped.

Visitor center with restrooms opens at 10am. Until then there are no facilities on site, and no picnicking allowed at any time.

This event is one of several planned for July 7-9 in Ithaca, come to as many as you wish.

NOTE: For even more fun, some members are camping overnight in the Taughannock Falls State Park in nearby Trumansburgh, NY, Friday or Saturday or both. Camping reservations are on your own.  See "Summer Planning Meeting and Taughannock Falls Gorge Walk" event post for camping information.

Bring binoculars, water, tick protection, sun protection although most trails are fairly shady.

Location: Cornell Lab of Ornithology, 159 Sapsucker Woods Road, Ithaca

Directions: From Route 13 near the Ithaca airport, look for green signs with binoculars and turn onto Sapsucker Woods Road. Pass the first group of parking lots and pull into the one with a fancy entrance sign, it is closest to the building.

How to find us: Meet just inside the visitor center, where observation windows look out over the pond

This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can join now by clicking on Join Us.

You can also join our Meetup Group: http://www.meetup.com/Women-Outdoors-Finger-Lakes/ and you'll be able to share in the conversation with other attendees, ask about car-pooling, contribute to the lunch suggestions, borrow equipment, etc. RSVP here or on Meetup.
