Our Leaf Peepers hike at Maryland Heights will be a two-fer: beautiful fall colors and rich Civil War history. This hike features some steep climbs and rocky terrain, but we'll be rewarded with a spectacular overlook of Harpers Ferry and the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. Signage along the trail will describe the Civil War ruins. After the hike, we'll explore some the historic sites at Harpers Ferry.
Maryland Heights is a challenging 5.3 mile hike, so come prepared with your hiking boots and hiking poles, if you have them.
This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic. Non-members are invited to join us on two events before we ask you to join Women Outdoors. You can join now by clicking on this Join Us
We scouted this hike and there is very
limited parking at the trail head, so we're going to meet at the Visitors Center at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park instead. Harpers Ferry NHP charges a $6/per vehicle fee.
Registration closes on Thursday, November 4. Please include a telephone number in case of last minute changes.
