We will snowshoe on an easy trail as there will be several women with us who have never been snowshoeing (me and my friend from So. Fla.!!).  If there is no snow, we’ll hike the trails instead. One of the suggested trails we might take is the Yellow Loop, but the group will decide when we’re there.  See below for links to trail maps.

Info on the Yellow Loop from CNY Hiking.com:  This loop follows yellow plastic trail markers on a pleasant 2.3 mile (we gps'd it at 2.7 miles) hike through the property.  This hike takes you to an old lock along the Oswego River.  You'll hike briefly along the old towpath and to the perfect picnic spot with a bench on the banks of the river.

Bring your snowshoes and poles if there's snow (don't know if there's anywhere to rent them) and dress accordingly.

Directions:  Recreation Area is located between Fulton and Phoenix, NY, on Great Bear Road and Route 57.  Check these links for help with: directions  http://www.friendsofgreatbear.org/directions.asp , downloadable Trail Map:   http://www.friendsofgreatbear.org/map.asp, and more info from the CNY Hiking webpage:     http://www.cnyhiking.com/GreatBearRecArea.htm
