Dear friends, please join me for an approaching end of summer picnic and hike at Chimney Bluffs State Park. We’ll meet near the facilities then walk down the paved path towards the lake where we will have a picnic. I will provide some vegetarian dish, local fruit and bottled water. Please bring whatever you like to eat and something to share, but not required. Then we’ll hike along the lakeshore on the Bluff Trail and experience the massive sculpted earthen spires and observe all that Mother Nature has provided us. The hike can be anywhere from 2.50 to 3 miles depending which trail we decide to return by.
There is a $5 park fee at a self-service kiosk. Pets are welcomed on a leash not more than 6 feet. So please feel free to bring your furry friend and the appropriate clean up bags should it be needed.
Bring sturdy walking shoes (there will be some muddy spots along the way), walking stick, water, hat, bug repellent, sunscreen and a camera. Long term forecast is predicted at 71 and cloudy.
Please respond by Friday, September 11. Call/text the day of the event if necessary 401-256-1562.
This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can join now by clicking on Join Us.
