June 15, 10am-4pm: Mt. Cardigan Hike
Meet at the Cardigan AMC Lodge at 9:45am
Leaders: Deb Weisenstein (dkweis@alum.mit.edu) and Elissa Mattson
Mt. Cardigan, 3,155 ft high in west central NH, boasts outstanding views from it’s bald rocky summit and exposed ridgeline. This is a moderately strenuous hike of 5.6 miles. We will meet at the Mt. Cardigan AMC lodge on Shem Valley Rd. at 10 am and hike a circuit, up the Manning and Mowglis Trails, over the Firescrew summit to the Cardigan summit, and down the Clark, Cathedral Forest, and Holt Trails. Expect about 5 hours of hiking, bring lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. This is a rocky trail with some open ledges, so wear sturdy boots and bring a jacket, windshell, and warm hat for the windy summit area. Raingear also required.
NH/ VT and Boston chapter combined event, though others are welcome to attend.
