Join Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic for kayaking at Mattawoman Creek in Indian Head, MD.

We plan to be on the water for 3 hours. If you rent, you should arrive by at least 9:30 a.m. to fill out a waiver and boat rental agreement to obtain a boat, paddle, and life jacket and pick out your kayak.

Cost to rent a kayak is $25 for 2 hours; $35 for 3 hours and $45 for all day. Please add 6% Maryland sales tax. The rental place takes both cash and credit cards. A credit card deposit is required on rental kayaks. If you bring your own kayak, there is no launch fee.

Susan, our trip leader, will be at the rental shack until  9:50 a.m. to get you signed in. After that, you're on your own. We should all be in the water by 10:00 a.m. and will stay out for 3 hours.

Be sure to allow plenty of travel time as Mattawoman Creek is located at the very end of Indian Head Highway - that’s 40 minutes from the Beltway!

Bring a snack for on the water and lunch for afterwards.

Everyone must wear a PFD, not just strap it on your boat. All participants must also sign a Women Outdoors waiver before getting on the water.

This event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can also join now by clicking on this Join Us link.

Registration is limited to 20 women and closes on Wednesday, July 5 or whenever we reach 20. Please note on your registration if you will bring your own boat or if you will be renting a kayak.

If you have questions, email Susan at slong4747@aol.com.
