I am sitting at Camp Bonnie Brae in East Otis, MA with Women Outdoors Board of Directors and other Regional Coordinators. We are having great discussions about how to reinvigorate not on the CT chapter but the national organization.
We are exploring more programs and activities that cross regions.  We are discussing including not only the traditional activities such as hiking and kayaking but also looking to offer programs such as Ropes courses, archery and basic outdoor skills.
We need to change the model to make your membership dues worth your investment.  I am excited about the energy and ideas that have come from this meeting.  I want to share that enthusiasm with all of you!
    More to come!

Here is a quick note from Krista, the trip leader for the last paddle:

"The kayak adventure on Aug. 3 went well.  Including myself we had a group of three.  The sun broke through the clouds and the weather was great.  The paddling and conversaton was easy.  The unplanned pizza and icecream was tasty"

It looks like we are making progress towards getting an active CT chapter again.  We have an upcoming paddle this weekend so check your email for details.

Well it has been a long time since Connecticut has had events.  We had a hike last weekend and this coming Sunday we have a fitness hike coming up.  I am working to update a calendar to put on this website and to send to our Yahoo group.  In the meantime, I will be adding an event to the registration section of the website.  It should be up and running today.

Here are the details you can expect to see shortly:

    Sunday, July 21st

Wickham Park Fitness Trail, Manchester, CT. 10a-2p. Come join our very own chapter personal trainer for a fun work out at Wickham Park’s fitness trail.  You’ll be led through a series of workout activities and learn how to use fitness trails to your advantage.  Bring a picnic lunch for afterwards.  For more info contact CT@womenoutdoors.org

    Hey All,
Thanks for responding to Alice's request for events.  We have some fantastic items in the calendar this year and a nice variety too.  One new event is Intro to Archery.  Thanks Jean and I hope many of you join her in this activity.
Keep the ideas flowing and feel free to add ad hoc events throughout the spring and summer.  If you want your ad hoc event posted to the website send your details to CT@womenoutdoors.org

    Hi All,
The calendar has finally been put together and uploaded to the CT pages of the website.  Not all events have been loaded to the online calendar but at least you have a PDF to look at for your reading pleasure.  Thanks to all who have agreed to lead an event.
If you have not yet sent information on the event you want to lead please email the information to CT@womenoutdoors.org.
    Thanks!

    Hi CT Members,
It has been a long time since this region has had a calendar and any real activity.  So, I am hosting a planning meeting on 11/6/11 from 12:30 to 3:30 in my home in Meriden.  Look for an event to be posted to our web page and our Yahoo Group with more details.
    Jo-Ann
